These three sculpture groups represent the culmination of an artistic life for Richard Robbins, the Honorary Professor of Fine Arts and Life Drawing at Middlesex University. Richard Robbins perceives his sculptures as explorations in body language and gesture, inspired memories of specific incidents and places and his experiences as a teacher of life drawing.
"My period at Camberwell teaching Anatomical Drawing was hugely instructive. Through it I began to see what goes to make up the apparent and so I learnt to understand movement. I learnt to look at people, observing who they are by the way they stand and move. Peoples characteristic postures are so individual and typically, their stance is modified in relation to others. Different companion - different distance between."
Dance; Accident; Steam Room will be on display at The Leicester Galleries and at the 20/21 British Art Fair, 12th 27th September, 9.30am-6.00pm Monday to Friday
